HBOR joins the Economic Council of Zagreb University
The Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development (HBOR) has become a member of the Economic Council of the University of Zagreb, in which it is represented by Alan Herjavec, a Member of the Management Board of HBOR, and his deputy is Josip Pavković, also a Member of the Management Board of HBOR. This engagement highlights the important role of HBOR in promoting cooperation and synergy between the economic sector and the academic community.
The constitutive meeting of the Council took place on the premises of the South East European Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (SEECEL) on 16 March 2024. The Council brings together twelve representatives of leading companies and institutions from the economic and financial sectors. Beside HBOR, the following companies are the members of the Economic Council: Adris grupa d.d., Agencija za komercijalnu djelatnost (AKD), Ericsson Nikola Tesla d.d., Hrvatska elektroprivreda d.d. (HEP), Croatian Employers' Association, Infobip d.o.o., Institut Ruđer Bošković, Končar - Elektroindustrija d.d., Orbico d.o.o., Pliva Hrvatska d.o.o. and Podravka d.d.
By unanimous decision, Gordana Kovačević, President and CEO of the company Ericsson Nikola Tesla d.d., was elected President of the Economic Council of the University of Zagreb, and Gordan Kolak, President of the Management Board of the company KONČAR - Elektroindustrija d.d., was elected Deputy President.
The Economic Council will act as an advisory body to the Rector by participating in defining strategic guidelines for the development of the University, promoting cooperation between the University and the economy, and encouraging innovation and commercialisation of innovations. The focus will be on improving university curricula and teaching processes in line with the needs of the economy, promoting student scholarships and designing joint activities in research, development, transfer of knowledge and technology. This partnership is expected to benefit both the University and the economic sector and to promote the development of competitiveness and innovation of the Croatian economy.
