HBOR's President of the Management Board Hrvoje Čuvalo participated at the end of last week in the panel discussion “From Local Support to the European Funds” that was held in the Municipality of Zmijavci, one of the smallest local government units in Imotska Krajina region.
The panel, which brought together representatives of state and local institutions, was an ideal opportunity to exchange opinions, present available sources of finance and strengthen communication with entrepreneurs from rural areas.
In addition to HBOR's President of the Management Board, the panel was also attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of HAMAG-BICRO Ante Janko Bobetko, the Director of Regional Development Directorate in the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds Ivan Bota, the Deputy Prefect of Split-Dalmatia County Ante Šošić and the head of the Municipality of Zmijavci Mijo Šuto.
”This is a great opportunity for HBOR to establish direct communication with small entrepreneurs from rural areas. As for Imotska Krajina region, HBOR is already present, as well as in the area of the entire Split-Dalmatia County, where we approve more than 250 projects financed with around EUR 80 million per year on average. However, what we want to do is to further increase the intensity of our presence here, because we recognise a great development potential that has not yet been sufficiently exploited. We have a lot to offer and enable the development to people through support to all segments of both the private and the public sectors“, emphasised Hrvoje Čuvalo, HBOR's President of the Management Board.
The panel discussion was focused on concrete challenges and opportunities for financing small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, agriculture, rural tourism and local government projects, with special emphasis on available sources of finance through national and European funds. The discussion also emphasised the importance of active participation of local stakeholders in the preparation and implementation of development projects, with the support of institutions such as HBOR and HAMAG-BICRO.
HBOR will continue its active approach in strengthening regional presence, developing partnerships and making financial instruments available in order to encourage balanced economic development in all parts of Croatia.
