HBOR's Management at the 2024 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group in Washington D.C.
Hrvoje Čuvalo, President of HBOR’s Management Board, and Josip Pavković, Member of HBOR’s Management Board, participated in the 2024 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group in Washington D.C. last week and held a series of meetings on that occasion.
Among them, they participated, together with Marko Primorac, Vice-President of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and Minister of Finance, in a meeting with the leaders of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and held numerous bilateral meetings with the representatives of the World Bank. Besides, a special event took place related to the participation in the annual meeting of the International Development Finance Club (IDFC), at which Čuvalo, by a consensus of all members, was appointed a member of the Steering Group.
This is a significant step forward for HBOR in cooperating with international stakeholders as it ranks HBOR alongside the presidents of the Boards of the world's most important development banks (Agence Française de Développement, AFD, France; Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau, KfW, Germany; Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, CDP, Italy; Banque Ouest Africaine de Développement, BOAD, West Africa; Bancóldex, Colombia; Brazilian Development Bank, BNDES, Brazil; Development Bank of South America, CAF, South America; Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion, CDG, Morocco; Japan International Cooperation Agency, JICA, Japan; Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector, ICD, Saudi Arabia; China Development Bank, CDB, China; Türkiye Sinai Kalkinma Bankasi, TSKB, Turkey).
HBOR has been a member of the IDFC since its establishment in 2011 and is a signatory to the Joint Declaration of All Public Development Banks in the World, signed in Paris in 2020. HBOR participates in the activities aimed at joint capacity building in support of the strategic goals of sustainable finance. The cooperation between HBOR and IDFC has been additionally strengthened by the participation of HBOR’s employees in working groups, by the authority assigned to the Member of the Management Board Pavković, and by appointing the Management Board advisor to a temporary assignment on the IDFC project, whereas the appointment of Čuvalo as a member of the Steering Group has strengthened HBOR's presence on the global scene and has provided an incentive for an even stronger cooperation.
In addition, HBOR's representatives held numerous bilateral meetings with representatives of development, commercial and investment banks at the margins of the KfW meeting, which also took place in Washington after the IDFC Annual Meeting.
Furthermore, the management of HBOR used their stay in Washington for a bilateral meeting with the ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the USA, H.E. Pjer Šimunović, to whom they presented all the most important activities of HBOR.
